Wer war William Turner?

William Turner , geboren am 23. April 1775 in London, Vereinigtes Königreich, gestorben am 19. Dezember 1851 in London, Vereinigtes Königreich, war bekannt für seine ausdrucksstarken Farben, fantasievollen Landschaften und turbulenten, oft gewalttätigen Marinegemälde. Er hinterließ mehr als 550 Ölgemälde, 2.000 Aquarelle und 30.000 Arbeiten auf Papier und gilt heute als Schöpfer der Landschaftsmalerei zu einer mit der Historienmalerei konkurrierenden Bedeutung.
